Dr Thimmaiah is the developer of Bhutan National Organic Standards and senior advisor to the Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority, a division of Bhutan's Ministry of Agriculture and Forests.

He is a leader in designing and implementing 'climate-smart agriculture' and low-carbon green strategies, and identifying inclusive trade opportunities that benefit the poor. He has advised various international organizations, agri-business corporations, governments, and NGOs in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Italy, Holland, and Costa Rica.

Dr Thimmaiah's talk this evening is presented by the Distinguished Lecture Series at Maharishi University of Management, Fairfield, Iowa, USA. He has been visiting MUM this month, sharing his expertise and learning more about the university's initiatives in sustainability.
