The Global Country of World Peace held a grand, daylong global celebration on 9 October 2008 of Victory Day, the auspicious day of Vijaya Dashmi in the Vedic Calendar. Victory Day is one of 12 yearly festivals to be held globally, inspired by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, to declare the invincibility of every nation.

The celebration featured ceremonies in MERU, Holland; the Global Capital of World Peace at the Brahma-Sthan (geographical centre) of India; and in the USA in Maharishi Vedic City and at the Global Financial Capital of New York.

The celebration was broadcast live globally on the Maharishi Channel, via satellite and over the Internet.

The celebration took place in two sessions. A highlight of the first session was the special Vedic recitations by Vedic Pandits at the Brahma-Sthan of India, marking the culmination of the 10-day Rajya Bhishek Coronation ceremony of four new Raj Rajeshwaris of the Global Country of World Peace—Mothers of the World from the Sovereign Domain of Consciousness. The Coronation ceremony had been proceeding during the celebration of Navaratri, the Nine Days of Mother Divine, immediately preceding Victory Day—the Tenth day.

The celebration was honoured by the august presence in MERU, Holland of Maharaja Adhiraj Raja Raam, First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace, who gave a beautiful address* to the global gathering.

The first session concluded with raising the Flag of Invincibility by Maharaja in MERU, during a procession including the Raj Rajeshwaris and Rajas and Ministers of the Global Country of World Peace, led by royal bagpipers.

The celebration reconvened with the broadcast of special Victory Day festivities in the United States, including the Coronation ceremony of the fifth new Raj Rajeshwari in Maharishi Vedic City, as well as an address by Dr John Hagelin, Raja of Invincible America, speaking from the Global Financial Capital of New York.

In MERU, Raja Harris Kaplan, Raja of India, presented a Golden Book about the 2007 Victory Day celebration, which Maharishi had requested him to prepare following last year's beautiful ceremonies. Also featured were the presentation of doctoral degrees to the Rajas, Mothers of the Domains, and Raj Rajeshwaris, which had previously been conferred by Maharishi; and an address by Dr Benjamin Feldman, Minister of Finance of the Global Country of World Peace.

During the second session, a beautiful and historic video of Maharishi on Victory Day 2007, addressing a gathering in Canada, was broadcast.
