The Maharishi University of Management soccer club won a tournament late last month in a challenging competition that involved six college soccer clubs in the region.

The team, led by player/coach Rama Hall, organized earlier this spring and then joined the other colleges in league competition in which each team played every other team once.

In league play, the Maharishi University of Management team finished about the middle of the pack, with an equal number of wins and losses.

But they brought their best game to the culminating tournament, in which they were seeded fourth, coming away with the championship.

'We won because of our teamwork,' said player Justin Heaton. 'We were really coherent together. We held our positions well and communicated well. And we played good team defense.'

The championship team also included student Lawir 'Motala' Muhammad and Invincible America Assembly participants. Other students involved in league play included Amine Kouider and Niyazi Parim.
