On 4 July—Day 1 of the Third Annual Conference of the Alliance of Women Scientists and Scholars for a Better World—leading educators and scientists will address the conference on the day's theme: Expanding universal understanding and understanding our expanding universe:
Carole Bloch, PhD 'The Nal'ibali Reading for Enjoyment Campaign: Towards creating appropriate learning conditions for all children' ∙ Director, Project for the Study of Alternative Education in South Africa, University of Cape Town ∙ Founder and Director of Nal'ibali National Reading-For-Enjoyment Initiative promoting literacy through reading clubs across South Africa ∙ PhD on children's literacy in African multilingual settings, Carl Ozietsky University, Oldenburg, Germany (magna cum laude), 2006 ∙ Editorial Board, Journal of Early Childhood Literacy ∙ Advisor, two-year research project 'Interdisciplinary Perspectives on African Language Materials for Children', based at National Centre for Language and Literacy (NCLL), Reading University, UK ∙ Widely published in both academic and popular media.
Yvonne Lagrosen, PhD

Jane Schmidt-Wilk, PhD

The conference will be held at Maharishi European Research University (MERU) in Vlodrop, the Netherlands, 4-6 July.
