On 12 January 2013, the Global Country of World Peace held a festive celebration inaugurating the new year—celebrating the rising waves of success of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes and technologies of consciousness throughout the world.
The celebration took place in MERU, Holland and at the Global Capital of World Peace* in the Brahmasthan (geographical centre) of India, with people in many countries also participating via webcast in centres teaching the Transcendental Meditation programme.
The full day's programme included the video of a beautiful address Maharishi gave 30 years ago, on 12 January 1983 in Chianciano, Italy.
In 1983 Maharishi was celebrating the ninth year of the Age of Enlightenment, which he had inaugurated in 1975 on the basis of the scientific discovery of the Maharishi Effect—reduced crime and violence, and rising coherence and positivity in society resulting from many people practising Transcendental Meditation. Maharishi recognized in this phenomenon the dawn of a new era of peace and harmony that would come to full blossoming through widespread application of his technologies of consciousness. In this ninth year Maharishi was celebrating the 'rising sunshine of the Age of Enlightenment'.
Maharishi began his 12 January 1983 address by saying that, having celebrated the rising sunshine of the Age of Enlightenment in the waves of bliss and inspiration from all the Transcendental Meditation teachers and meditators in all parts of the world—'We have laid open for all mankind for all times a precious gift of practical possibilities to enjoy life in fulfilment.
'This rise of the sunshine of the Age of Enlightenment is the phenomenon of this ninth year of the Age of Enlightenment. Eight years ago it was our great great joy to inaugurate the dawn of the Age of Enlightenment. And now today we see the dawn is rising in the sunshine of the day of the Age of Enlightenment.
'This celebration today is a very positive response of nature to a phenomenon taking place in the world. What has happened? All the [Transcendental Meditation teachers] know, all those who are responsible to bring about this rising sunshine of the Age of Enlightenment in the world—those whose activities have generated this phenomenon in the world's horizon today—they are aware that this is just a sequential step-by-step unfolding of the total potential of pure knowledge, within which is seated the infinite organizing power of nature.
'Infinite organizing power of nature, inherent in natural law, started to breathe in fulfilment, and from that lively breath of natural law, enlivened the ocean of natural law. From the rising waves of the laws of nature, from the rising waves of the ocean, we got into the full-fledged, lively breath of the ocean of natural law, the unified field of all the laws of nature. This has enlivened the entire, the total, the infinite organizing power of nature in creation.'
The celebration began with traditional Vedic recitations for the occasion by Maharishi Vedic Pandits in India and Holland. Following Maharishi's 1983 address, the keynote speech was given in Holland by Dr Tony Nader, MD, PhD, honoured by Maharishi as leader (Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam) of the Global Country of World Peace, which guides the teaching of Maharishi's programmes around the world.
The celebration continued with achievements of Maharishi's programmes, and unfolding of new plans to fully realize the goals of perfect health, happiness, prosperity, and permanent peace for the people of every nation.
A special series of reports was presented by the Global Women's Organization for Total Knowledge, the women's wing of the Global Country of World Peace, about progress and achievements in bringing consciousness-based programmes to women and girls in countries around the world.
* On 12 January 2008 Maharishi designated the Global Capital at the Brahmasthan of India as the Global Capital of Raam Raj (administration through Natural Law, Heaven on Earth).
