The Transcendental Meditation website for Algeria, launched in 2010, is in process of being upgraded to reflect North African culture, said Atmane Kouider, director of the programme in that country. Mr Kouider recently described highlights of the organization's current activities and plans for expanding its programmes in the region.
Professionals in photography, video, and web design are collaborating to produce a high-quality website that will give people in Algeria access to a comprehensive array of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's knowledge and programmes.
In other news, the successful use of Transcendental Meditation to help people suffering from traumatic stress in the United States, Africa, and other parts of the world, has stirred interest in the programme in Algeria as a therapeutic technique to help restore physical and emotional balance for victims of terrorism.
Interest has also arisen in Consciousness-Based Education and potential collaboration with Maharishi University of Management (MUM) in Fairfield, Iowa, USA.
This year the Transcendental Meditation organization in Algeria welcomed a new teacher who had completed an extended training course in Thailand.
Teachers from Algeria have been giving Transcendental Meditation courses in Tunisia, and an association for the programme is being created in that country.
Tunisia was honoured recently by a visit from Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management. Dr Morris is an international authority in the application of Maharishi's programmes to improve the quality of life for the individual and society. He conducted a day-long seminar, enjoyed by about 30 people who practise Transcendental Meditation, including many who traveled from Algeria for the occasion.
Production of the VedAroma line of organic essential oils and blends has expanded from the original facility in Algeria to a new factory in Tunisia. The factory has recently increased the number of therapeutic essential oils it is producing, as well as introducing the production of 24 perfumes. More products are being developed including more perfumes, creams, and massage oils. The factory also plans also to launch a very superior line of oils.
Proceeds from all of the products will help to support the large group of Maharishi Vedic Pandits, peace-creating experts, in the centre of India—the group is a central element in Maharishi's programme to create world peace.
