In addition to unexpected economic gains and creation of jobs in the United Kingdom, another expression of growing positivity occurred recently.

Among the thousands of people who enjoyed the popular Isle of Wight music festival this summer, many also took advantage of opportunities to learn more about Transcendental Meditation.

Festival organizers provided a very large tent where teachers could give lectures on Transcendental Meditation, and also an amphitheatre where they could give talks and presentations.

The Transcendental Meditation organization in the UK also provided each of the festivalgoers with information about the technique, including contact information, and about the David Lynch Foundation,

'Every one of the 60,000 who attended would have heard about Transcendental Meditation and the David Lynch Foundation,' explained Dr Peter Warburton, Chairman of Maharishi Foundation UK. 'A thousand took the trouble to come to the tent and learn about meditation, yoga, and everything we offer.'

He and other Transcendental Meditation teachers there were impressed with the festivalgoers and their dedication to self-development and social development.

It was especially moving, Dr Warburton said, to see that the young people who came 'were all just completely interested, open, and absorbing [the presentations], and keen to get involved. . . . It was three-day event, and we were giving talks all the time to people who were really keen to learn Transcendental Meditation and get involved with the programmes to raise consciousness in the world, to create a better world.'

The Transcendental Meditation teachers spoke to the young attendees not just about the benefits of Transcendental Meditation for individuals, but also how group practice of the meditation technique and its advanced programmes can create a powerful effect of coherence, harmony, and peace throughout the world. In addition, many festivalgoers were impressed with the philanthropic work of the David Lynch Foundation.
