Latin America: Effect of peace-creating groups of meditators seen in district's rising quality of life

Economic woes and minor natural disasters in the past few years have inspired a group of Transcendental Meditation teachers in Latin America to help avert future problems and bring peace and invincibility to their region.

To achieve these goals they have been implementing approaches of Invincible Defense Technology (IDT). According to its website, Invincible Defense Technology 'calls for the immediate establishment of large national groups of peace-creating experts practicing specific ''technologies of consciousness'' that have been scientifically shown to neutralize acute ethnic, political, and religious tensions that fuel violence, terrorism, and social conflict.'

One approach has been to establish such peace-creating groups of students practising Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques in public schools in the region.

In one country, two schools in the same municipal district already have large groups of students engaged in these peace-creating technologies. The programme has not only directly benefited the students and schoolteachers, one of the Transcendental Meditation teachers in the programme commented. The good effects have also extended beyond the schools and are being clearly felt in community life.

'Even last week,' he said, 'the mayor of this district reported very happily on Twitter that this district climbed in position in the national ranking of quality of life.'

This outcome is not surprising to Transcendental Meditation teachers and others involved in the project. It's exactly the effect that everyone predicted, the teacher said, '—because this ranking of quality of life is elaborated by the national government and independent researchers on the basis of local security, local education, the transportation connectivity—but mainly from the personal feeling of the population about security and satisfaction' in the district.

These results have also been augmented through another IDT approach involving special performances by large groups of peace-creating experts, known as the Maharishi Yagya programme. These performances are predicted to create specific, life-supporting effects for individuals and, when done on a large enough scale, for whole nations.

Altogether, the effect of the overall programme has been felt beyond the district, in the whole country as well, the TM teacher said. The main newspapers are reporting very good news about the thriving economy, the burgeoning international business scene, and the increased feeling of security in the nation. 'This not only has been averting problems from nature itself, but has been creating invincibility, strengthening the country, the economy, and politics.'
