Construction of the Maharishi Peace Palace in Erfurt, Germany—the first in Europe—is almost complete. A few weeks ago the scaffolding on the outer walls was removed and for the first time the full beauty of the Vastu* building could be seen and appreciated by everyone, said Dr Eckart Stein, one of the directors of the project.
Erfurt is the state capital of Thuringia in Germany, and is very close to the centre of the country.
The new Maharishi Peace Palace is designed to be a centre for Transcendental Meditation and related programmes, as well as the seat of a peace-creating group of advanced meditators radiating coherence and harmony in the whole surrounding community.
The grand inauguration of the Maharishi Peace Palace is scheduled for 24 October this year, Dr Stein said. The building's interior has reached such an advanced stage of readiness that it could host a 'pre-inauguration' event in mid-July, on the occasion of the visit of Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, with a delegation from MERU, Holland.
Fifty guests including builders, supporters, and community members practising Transcendental Meditation attended a banquet dinner and lecture by Dr Morris.
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, created the initiative to build 3,000 Peace Palaces in major cities around the world.
The directors of the project in Erfurt feel that this will be the first of many such structures in Europe. News of the Peace Palace's rapid progress and imminent opening is spreading and already inspiring people in cities across the continent and throughout the world to build their own Peace Palaces, to be lighthouses of enlightenment and peace for the whole world family.
Global Good News will continue to feature Dr Stein's recent progress report on the construction of the Maharishi Peace Palace in Erfurt and about Dr Morris's visit to Germany.
* Vastu refers to Vedic architecture—the complete knowledge of design and building in accord with Natural Law—brought to light from the Vedic Literature by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as Maharishi Sthapatya Veda.
