India: Many women learn Transcendental Meditation, create peace for themselves, their families, their world
Global Mother Divine Organization Translate This Article
3 July 2012
In cities across India, many women and girls are learning Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques, including Yogic Flying.
This is part of an initiative by Transcendental Meditation teachers to create groups of 1,000 women in many cities practising Yogic Flying at the same time in their own homes. The Sanskrit name for this programme is Sahasra Shirsha Matri Mandal.
The aim is to have one such group in each of 192 cities of India, to create a nourishing influence for all 192 countries of the world family.
Scientific research has shown that practice of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's technologies of consciousness promotes integrated brain functioning, better health, and many other benefits for the individual. When people practise in a group, it creates an influence of coherence and harmony in the surrounding environment. Large groups can create this peaceful, nourishing effect for whole cities and nations.
These teaching activities have been steadily progressing and also expanding to more cities. In Jabalpur and Maharishi Nagar (near Delhi), the Sahasra Shirsha Matri Mandal project began in 2009, and by now 4,196 and over 2,500 women in these cities, respectively, have learned Transcendental Meditation. Many are practising at the same time morning and evening. Several hundred have become Yogic Flyers, and women also enjoy regular group meditations.
In Kanpur, 450 women learned Transcendental Meditation in March. Other cities with significant numbers of women learning Transcendental Meditation and advanced programmes every month include Deoria, Banda, Jhansi, and Allahabad. In Jhansi and Varanasi one-day courses will be held soon, offered by the Global Mother Divine Organization.
Gobal Good News will continue to feature news of the Transcendental Meditation programme for women in India.
