The Global Country of World Peace held its annual celebration of the full moon day of Guru Purnima on 3 July 2012. This special celebration took place in MERU, Holland and at the Global Capital of World Peace* in the Brahmasthan (geographical centre) of India. People in many countries also enjoyed a webcast of the celebration.
Guru Purnima is the day each year in the Vedic calendar that is dedicated to honouring the great teachers of the eternal Vedic tradition of knowledge, who throughout time have upheld the supreme wisdom of the integration of life. In this generation this wisdom has been brought to the world through the knowledge and programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Vedic Science and technologies of consciousness—to bring enlightenment to every individual and invincibility to every nation.
Attending Friday's celebration in Holland was Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam, honoured by Maharishi as first ruler of the Global Country of World Peace, in an assembly of teachers and administrators of organizations teaching the Transcendental Meditation programme in countries around the world.
A highlight of the day's programme, following traditional Vedic recitations by Maharishi Vedic Pandits in the Brahmasthan (geographical centre) of India and in MERU, was the video of an address by Maharishi on the occasion of Guru Purnima, 12 July 1995.
In that historic address Maharishi said,
'Today, celebrating Guru Purnima Day, we feel this is the best time of our life. . . .
'This year's achievements are the supreme achievements of life at any time. Our achievement today is the full moon, full moon of all knowledge, which has all possibilities in the infinite organizing power of Natural Law. That full moon of knowledge—Total Knowledge, Pure Knowledge—the whole of the Veda is our achievement today, and that we are enlivening in our awareness, . . . We are experiencing today, wholeness on the move.
'On this full moon, the moon we find is expressing wholeness, full of light, and within the wholeness of all brilliance, there is the entire expression of Natural Law—the whole universe, the ever-expanding universe, in the fullness of the brilliance of wholeness. . . . .'
After the video of Maharishi's 1995 address, the assembly enjoyed a beautiful address by Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam. The celebration continued with achievements and resolutions presented by administrators of Maharishi's programmes for invincible permanent peace, perfect health, progress, prosperity, and good fortune for the people of their nations and for the world.
A special series of reports was presented by the Global Mother Divine Organization, the women's wing of the Global Country of World Peace, about progress in establishing the organization in many countries and achievements of its programmes for women and girls throughout the world.
In the days leading up to Guru Purnima, a series of three special live open-air concerts of Maharishi Gandharva Veda music were performed in MERU by renowned artists of Indian classical music. These evening concerts were also webcast live globally, and archived for future viewing. Click here for more information and to register to view the concerts online.
Global Good News will report more of Maharishi's 1995 Guru Purnima address, as well as today's address by Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam and remarks of other speakers.
* On 12 January 2008 Maharishi designated the Global Capital at the Brahmasthan of India as the Global Capital of Raam Raj (administration through Natural Law, Heaven on Earth).
