Creating integrated, harmonious national consciousness in Nepal
Nepal Maharishi Vedic Foundation Translate This Article
9 February 2012
Report on the International Conference on National Security and World Peace
Presented by: Nepal Maharishi Vedic Foundation www.maharishi.org.np The conference was held in Kathmandu, Nepal in December 2011.
Background
The conference materials explain that Nepal, with its spectacular scenery and friendly people, has enchanted visitors for centuries. Being the birthplace of Lord Buddha, symbol of peace and harmony, it had long been known as a peaceful nation. Sandwiched between China and India, Nepal has historically acted as a buffer between the Asian giants.
However, the country's peaceful image was diminished after many years of violent conflicts due to cultural, ethnic, language and political differences. These internal conflicts have weakened Nepal's position with regard to foreign affairs.
Today Nepal is in a new phase of the peace process. The people of Nepal are longing for peace, progress and prosperity—an independent, sovereign nation is the principal wish of all Nepali people.
To unify the divergent tendencies in the country and to maintain its independence and sovereignty, Nepal needs a strong, coherent, integrated and harmonious national consciousness. This can easily be achieved by training a small group of the defence and security forces in the consciousness-based Invincible Defence Technology.
Objectives of the conference
The conference presented practical steps regarding: ∙ How national unity can be gained and—at the same time—the uniqueness of the different ethnic, religious, cultural and lingual groups can be maintained without conflicts; ∙ How a coherent and harmonious national consciousness will prevent any potential disruptive influences from within and from outside a country's borders; as has been shown by scientific studies; ∙ How enmity in a potential adversary can be defused, thus preventing the birth of an enemy and the onset of violence and war; ∙ How a peaceful and cooperative environment can be created and hostilities in the region can be prevented, thus giving Nepal a strong, independent and sovereign position between the two nuclear powers; ∙ And finally, how such a coherence creating group can easily be trained in the Invincible Defence Technology.
The distinguished panel of international conference speakers included members of a delegation of the Global Country of World Peace which came to Nepal to participate.
Gunter Chassé, Lt. Col. (Retd.), German Air Force, addressed the conference on 'Achieving national security and peace: A consciousness-based approach to defence'. Lt. Col. Chassé is Director for Defence, Global Country of World Peace, MERU, Netherlands; as well as director, Institute of Invincible Defence, Germany.
Lt. Col. Chassé explained the importance of establishing coherence-creating groups practising the consciousness-based Invincible Defence Technology of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Dr Chris Crowell and Dr Ann Crowell, Directors for Religion and Culture, Global Country of World Peace, MERU, Netherlands, spoke on 'Preventing social and ethnic conflict through the development of individual and collective consciousness'. The presentation focused on 'the critical need to establish coherence in world consciousness, to eliminate ongoing cultural and religious conflict in countries around the world.'
Other special guest speakers included Dr Deepak Baskota, Chairman of Nepal Maharishi Vedic Foundation, and Founder of the Kanchanjangha Tea Estate and Research Center (the first certified organic garden of Nepal); and Kingsley Brooks, PhD, International Director for Nepal, Global Country of World Peace.
The master of ceremonies was Arjun Koirala, a civil engineer and urban planner who is Maharishi Vastu Coordinator, Nepal Maharishi Vedic Foundation.
The conference was successful, Dr Chris Crowell commented. Lt. Col. Chassé 'really brought home Maharishi's programme for how to create invincibility through the development of collective consciousness'.
Global Good News will continue to feature more about the series of conferences held in Nepal near the end of 2011.
