Australia: Melbourne to celebrate 50th anniversary of Maharishi's first visit

In 2012, organizations teaching the Transcendental Meditation Programme in Australia plan to commemorate the fifty-year anniversary of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's first visit to the country. Maharishi visited Australia for the first time in 1962.

In Melbourne, several teachers are planning a conference and big event in March 2012 to celebrate Maharishi's first visit to the city in March 1962. The Melbourne Maharishi Invincibility Centre is inviting over 30,000 people who practise Transcendental Meditation to attend a group meditation in the Melbourne area.

The unprecedented event will be on behalf of world peace—one of the most important priorities of Maharishi's programmes around the world over the last fifty years. It will itself be a powerful demonstration of Maharishi's approach of creating coherence and harmony in collective consciousness through large groups practising his peace-creating technologies of consciousness together.

The group meditation will be held at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, the venue where Maharishi spoke in his 1962 visit.
