In a series of year-end updates from around the world, the success of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes was reported from a wide range of countries including Jamaica, Uzbekistan, and Hungary.

In 2011, Dr Ashley Deans, Executive Director of Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in the United States, visited Jamaica. In his travels, Dr Deans focuses on education, and in Jamaica he visited a school where all the teachers, administrators, and directors have started to practise the Transcendental Meditation Programme; the students will be learning the technique soon.

At least one other school in the country is interested in incorporating Transcendental Meditation. With these two schools combined, there will be 120 new meditators practising together, creating coherence for Jamaica.

Dr Deans also visited a few schools in Hungary, where he found a population with increasing levels of interest in Transcendental Meditation and other programmes developed by Maharishi.

Indeed, since 2004, the number of people learning Transcendental Meditation has been steadily increasing. In 2011, there were 262 new meditators—a 30% increase in just one year and almost triple the number of people who learned in 2008.

In addition, Hungary held courses in advanced techniques of the Transcendental Meditation Programme, including Yogic Flying.

Developments in Uzbekistan this past year include a new Maharishi Invincibility Centre* teaching Transcendental Meditation in the capital, Tashkent. The new centre is perfectly oriented according to Vastu principles of Vedic architecture, Maharishi Sthapatya Veda. There is now a group of dedicated meditators who come regularly to practise Transcendental Meditation together.

Interest has been rising in other parts of Uzbekistan, where Transcendental Meditation teachers have taught as many as 75 people at one time.

In Kyrgyzstan, a new Invincibility Centre opened in 2011 in the capital city of Bishkek. This centre is large enough to accommodate meditators in the city and serve as a small school offering certificate courses in Computer Science, Russian, and Chinese.

A dynamic young Transcendental Meditation teacher in the country recently held a large conference on stress management, where he introduced the idea of using the programme in the business sphere as a tool to enhance success and performance.

* Maharishi Invincibility Centres in major cities around the world offer the knowledge and programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, including the Transcendental Meditation Programme, to promote enlightenment for every individual and invincibility for every nation through development of full potential in every area of life.
