Transcendental Meditation relieves stress in Japan's disaster areas

24 December 2011
Though it has been a tough year for Japan, with natural and man-made disasters devastating the country, teachers of the Transcendental Meditation Programme report progress as well. With this progress, optimism builds for a brighter 2012.
Many people have learned Transcendental Meditation during the past year, with a high concentration of new practitioners in areas that were affected by the earthquake and tsunami last March.
'There's been a tremendous interest in the disaster areas because of the high level of stress,' said a Transcendental Meditation teacher. 'Many schools and health institutions have expressed interest.'
Two dedicated Transcendental Meditation teachers have left their centre to go to the disaster areas, where teachers are needed most. Their courses have drawn great interest and they have taught over 200 people.
Also in 2011, around 90 people learned the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying. These new practitioners are making an important and necessary contribution to disaster relief and rebuilding, a teacher commented—their practice adds to the reduction of social stress and rise of coherence in collective consciousness created by existing groups of Japanese Yogic Flyers.
Another development that will support coherent rebuilding is in Maharishi Vastu architecture,* which is building and design according to Natural Law. In 2011, Maharishi Vastu Coordinators courses were held throughout Japan, in Hiroshima, Osaka, Tokyo, and Fukuoka. In total, 48 people participated in training to become Vastu coordinators and help spread the knowledge of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda.
Lastly, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's groundbreaking book Science of Being and Art of Living was just republished in Japan, based on the latest revisions of the book. Many thousands of copies were printed.
* Also known as Maharishi Vedic architecture and Maharishi Sthapatya Veda.
