On 31 December the Global Country of World Peace marked the New Year with a celebration in MERU, Holland.
The celebration inaugurated the special week of deep silence and meditation traditionally enjoyed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, and administrators of his programmes at the start of every year.
A highlight of the celebration was the video of an address by Maharishi on this occasion, 31 December 2006, in which he described the main priorities to be accomplished by his organizations in the coming year:
'Our efforts will be, our Sankalpa (resolution) is now, to have 16,000 Vedic Pandits in the Brahmasthan (geographical centre) of India, the Brahmasthan of Veda Bhumi Bharat*—16,000 Vedic Pandits in one place on earth, we will establish on a permanent basis, profoundly functioning structure of Global Raam Raj.'
Maharishi has described Raam Raj as administration through total Natural Law, a beautiful time of peace, prosperity, happiness, and freedom from suffering for the world.
'Global Raam Raj will have its beautiful glorified Vedic capital in the Brahmasthan of Vedic India. Today we are going in silence . . . with this beautiful Sankalp which has been organized to be fulfilled by our beloved leaders of the coming generation . . . .
'And from where the figure 16,000 comes? From the double value of the square root of one per cent of the world's population.** We have in our world, and we are proud of a big world family of about 6.4 billion, and we have to organize a prevention-oriented, problem-free administration for our world family, in order that the old ideal of Raam Raj' will be achieved, Maharishi said.
'What comes today is our resolution . . . to have the seat of functioning Raam Raj, the capital of functioning of Global Raam Raj—the golden time for the world, ruled by total Natural Law, the Constitution of the Universe, Vedic Constitution of the Universe. The Will of God that governs the universe, that governs the ever-expanding universe with perfect order—that orderly administration of the universe we want to have in our world family.
'And this, the 16,000 Vedic Pandits will provide to the world. Eight thousand is the number of the square root of one percent of our world's population. At least double of that, we are targeting to establish in the Veda land.'
Maharishi also praised the group of administrators and architects in India and Holland who were leading the project with great focus and skill, to quickly build the campus for this coherence-creating group of 16,000 Vedic Pandits practising Maharishi's Vedic technologies of consciousness at the Brahmasthan of India.
The success of this undertaking, Maharishi said, 'will be indicated by lasting peace in the world—the world, all nations, full of peace, prosperity, happiness, basking in the Total Knowledge . . . for all future of mankind.'
Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam, honoured by Maharishi as first ruler of the Global Country of World Peace, also addressed the celebration. Global Good News will feature this portion of the New Year's celebration tomorrow.
The programme concluded with traditional Vedic recitations by Maharishi Vedic Pandits in MERU.
