US: Indo-American visitors impressed by peace-creating group in Maharishi Vedic City

25 December 2011
One of many enriching activities enjoyed by guests who attended the recent Vedic Visitors Weekend at Maharishi Vedic City in Iowa, USA, was a performance of special peace-creating technologies of consciousness by a group of Maharishi Vedic Pandits who are in residence in the city.
This coherence-creating group is an important element in the Global Peace Initiative, which sponsored the Visitors Weekend. The weekend drew Indo-Americans from cities as far away as Los Angeles and New York.
One guest commented on the ''amazing sight to drive over the rolling hills of Iowa and see spread before you a campus'' where a large group of Maharishi Vedic Pandits from India reside.
''The inner feeling was so good—it was beyond words,'' said another guest who attended the conference with his family, describing the experience of watching the Pandits' peace-creating Vedic performance. ''I could understand how such large groups of well-trained Vedic Pandits can create peace.''
Another visitor expressed enthusiasm for the Global Peace Initiative, and said that the visiting group was ''pleasantly surprised'' to see that a large number of Vedic Pandits were being trained to practice these peace-creating technologies in America as well as in India. ''These Vedic Pandits are sustaining ancient Vedic culture. At the same time, they are conducting fundamental research on the positive effects of meditation—far more than any other organization. I wish more people will participate in future seminars conducted by Maharishi University of Management,'' the visitor said.
''As Indians who cherish the Vedic tradition in our hearts, we should feel very proud that this great knowledge has given us a practical means to create peace in the world,'' said Mr. Ramani Ayer, who served as host for the weekend. Mr Ayer is retired CEO of The Hartford Financial Group and current Director of Development for the Global Peace Initiative.
