Gala benefit to launch Global Peace Initiative
Global Peace Initiative Translate This Article
18 October 2011
A gala benefit concert will be held Sunday, 6 November, in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, featuring Chandrika Tandon, 2011 Grammy Award Nominee for world music.
This special concert will launch the Global Peace Initiative—an intensified global effort to establish large permanent groups of peace-creating Maharishi Vedic Pandits in India and America.
These two groups will create an unshakable foundation for lasting peace and the fulfillment of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's scientifically validated programs to create permanent world peace, organizers said.
The benefit concert, entitled ''Soul Chants'', will be held at the Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts in Fairfield. The occasion is also an opportunity for the local community to express their appreciation for the Vedic Pandits who have been in residence in neighboring Maharishi Vedic City since 2006, participating in the Invincible America Assembly, for their contributions to peace in the world.
World-renowned recording artist Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon celebrates ''the grace that exists in our innermost selves'' through sharing her music. Trained by masters in Hindustani, Carnatic, South American, and Jazz traditions—''Soul Call''—her second album released under the non-profit label Soul Chants Music, has topped world music charts and garnered great acclaim including a 2011 Grammy Award nomination.
All proceeds of Soul Chants Music benefit organizations in the fields of community building, arts, and spirituality; the 6 November concert will benefit the Maharishi Vedic Pandits and the Global Peace Initiative.
