US: Texas fires stalled by 'Vastu shield' effect

The knowledge of Maharishi Vastu* architecture—Vedic architecture— includes the quality of invincibility provided by Vastu communities and homes. There are numerous examples of homes built according to Vastu principles surviving undamaged in the face of natural disasters. One of the most recent was earlier this year, when wildfires began to overrun large areas in the state of Texas, in the United States.

A forest fire was moving toward residential buildings owned by the Transcendental Meditation organization in a small town about 80 miles (130 km) NW of Houston.

As can be seen from this photo before the fires began, the buildings are in a heavily wooded area.

Firefighters were very concerned as the fire moved quickly in this direction. They were most concerned for the two new buildings (upper part of aerial photo), due to their exterior wall surface—they were only partially completed.

They rapidly built a berm (earth wall) around both of these buildings. As one can see from their orientation,** these are both built according to the Vastu principles.

Since there was time, the firefighters also put a berm around the older building with the southwest orientation (lower part of aerial photo), although they felt it would be relatively safe.

The fires arrived and went up to the berms surrounding the two new Vastu buildings, but did not cross over on any side. The third building was a different story. The fire went all the way around the berm, then leapt over the berm and destroyed the entire building. What remained was a pile of smoldering debris of what had been a two-story building.

''Even a partially completed Maharishi Vastu building is protected from negative influences that threaten to do harm,'' commented an expert in Maharishi Vastu architecture.

There have been numerous examples of Maharishi Vastu homes remaining safe from the destruction of fire. Some of these experiences are posted on the Maharishi Vastu website in the Testimonials section, under ''Protection against Fire and Hurricanes''.

* Vastu refers to Vastu vidya, Vedic architecture—the knowledge of design and building in accord with Natural Law—brought to light in its completeness from the Vedic literature by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as Maharishi Sthapatya Veda.

** Maharishi Vastu homes are aligned with the cardinal directions to bring about auspicious influences such as good health, affluence, and fulfillment. Buildings with eastern entrances, receiving the nourishing influence of the rising sun, are said to particularly bring the most auspicious effects; improperly oriented buildings bring negative influences and problems.
