Today the entire world faces the threat of terrorism. India has suffered from terrorism for the last 50 years; the unending Arab-Israeli confrontations over the last 55 years demonstrate that a violent response to terrorism can be disastrous. However, India's ancient Vedic tradition, revived by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, provides a practical solution: peer-reviewed scientific research has shown that Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi program can effectively reduce terrorism, by alleviating the underlying collective societal stress responsible for social problems such as crime, terrorism, and war.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of world peace.
When used in a military context, this non-violent, non-invasive approach is called Invincible Defense Technology (IDT). It has been scientifically validated in over 50 studies, and can be used confidently by the military under present circumstances as a long-term solution to extremist violence.
The authors state that India has suffered from terrorism for the last 50 years, and discuss the country's responses, which have varied from soft to strong but have mostly been spoken or written. It could be argued that Indians strive for tolerance and that their government's mild response reflects this tendency. If true, this strategy may have prevented at least some escalation of the problem. However, this strategy has not lessened the sufferings of the victims of terrorism.
Also presented is a detailed analysis of how India's ancient Vedic tradition, revived by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, provides a practical approach to this situation through large groups practicing Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and the TM-Sidhi program, which is based on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. (For a more complete explanation see:
∙ Samadhi is the beginning, not the end of Yoga,
∙ The yoga sutra and deep meditation, and
∙ TM & the effect of 'ahimsa' in the Yoga Sutra.)
The authors discuss published research findings of large-scale applications of Invincible Defence Technology to reduce crime and social stress, for example in Washington, DC and the Middle East; and cite the adoption of IDT by the military, for example in the security forces in Ecuador.
