Scientific research has shown improved performance by military officers practising the Transcendental Meditation Programme.
In one study conducted many years ago, military officers learned Transcendental Meditation as part of their training. Compared to controls, these officers had greater speed and improved performance for tasks requiring quick and effective decision-making. Their memory for details also improved.
This study is among nearly 100 research studies included in Scientific Research on Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme: Collected Papers Volume 6.
These are 'very important capabilities,' said Dr Michael Dillbeck, an expert on Transcendental Meditation research, who is one of the editors of Collected Papers Volume 5, and the editor of Volume 6.
'Cognitive efficiency in military officers [means] that they can perform better simply because their mind is more clear, and their mind and body are integrated in a more effective way,' he explained.
In the coming days, Global Good News will continue to feature Dr Dillbeck's report highlighting studies from Scientific Research on Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme: Collected Papers Volume 6.
