In October 2010, Dr David Lynch made a two-day visit to Sweden, during which time he made presentations on the Transcendental Meditation Programme to prominent people, met with the press, and attended a celebration for TM practitioners.
When Dr Lynch first arrived in Stockholm, he gave an inspiring presentation to 120 of Sweden's leaders in business, the arts, and education. One-third of the attendees already practised Transcendental Meditation, and many of the other guests learnt the technique in the weeks and months following the event.
Dr Lynch also met with various TV, radio, and newspaper outlets within Sweden, which resulted in a huge wave of positive press coverage on Transcendental Meditation and the goals of the David Lynch Foundation.
Finally, during his visit, Dr Lynch attended a celebration commemorating the 50-year anniversary of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's first visit to Sweden in 1960. Many teachers and practitioners of TM and Yogic Flying were in attendance at the celebration.
During the month following Dr Lynch's visit, 50 people learnt Transcendental Meditation in Sweden—a dramatic increase from the usual rate of instruction over the last few years. In addition to learning the technique, many of these new practitioners began visiting the Maharishi Invincibility Centre in Stockholm on a regular basis, to participate in group practice of TM and gain further knowledge of Maharishi's programmes.
These achievements for Sweden in 2010 were reported in continuing sessions of the 12 January 2011 celebration inaugurating Maharishi's Fourth Year of Invincibility – Global Raam Raj.*
