Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment (MSAE) in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, recently hosted an International Day of Peace. Guest speakers included MSAE alumna Heather Chase, who with her husband, Ken Beller, is author of Great Peacemakers: True Stories from Around the World; they are also recipients of the 2007 International Peace Writing Award. The book has endorsements from three Presidents and three Nobel Peace Prize laureates.
During the day, Maharishi School students participated in multi-cultural and peace-building workshops and activities, including a parade of flags. They also met with Heather and Ken for a discussion about inspiring true-life stories of great peacemakers and insights into creating peace in their own lives.
Maharishi School students are very familiar with this concept. As one of the flagship institutions offering Consciousness-Based Education in the world, MSAE was a natural choice to host the event. The Transcendental Meditation Programme, practiced by all students, has been found through extensive scientific research to help them by dissolving stress and fatigue, promoting balanced functioning of mind and body and more harmonious behaviour.
Older students also practise the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, participating in daily group practice of Yogic Flying in the Golden Domes on the campus of Maharishi University of Management, where MSAE is located, creating a peaceful, harmonious influence in the collective consciousness of the whole nation.
