Since the visit of renowned filmmaker David Lynch to Iceland in 2009, and with the subsequent support of the David Lynch Foundation, about 1,000 people have learned the Transcendental Meditation Programme, and many more are eager to learn.
All the Teachers of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in Iceland recently attended a Recertification Course, which will give more people the opportunity to learn the technique, said Raja Tom Stanley, Raja of Invincible Iceland for the Global Country of World Peace.*
Several hundred people in Iceland are currently waiting to learn. Enthusiasm is spreading by word of mouth, the National Director of Iceland for the Global Country reported.*
Teachers of Transcendental Meditation are also offering residence courses, advanced lectures, and knowledge days for those who have learned the technique.
In October physician from Denmark who is trained in Maharishi Ayur-Veda will give a presentation, the National Director said.
The goal is to create a group of 100 Yogic Flyers in Iceland—the number necessary to create national invincibility. A Yogic Flying course will be held next year, the National Director announced.
The transformation in Iceland with the expansion of the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has been 'quite remarkable', Raja Stanley said.
The National Director reported such positive trends as a stronger currency, lower unemployment, a dramatic drop in traffic fatalities, and increased optimism at all levels of society.
* Raja Stanley and the National Director of Iceland spoke on the 15 September 2010 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
