On 23 July—the final day of the Global Mother Divine Organization's* Third International Congress in MERU, Holland—the group enjoyed an inspiring series of presentations from delegates representing countries around the world, on their achievements of the last six months. One of the first presentations was a very full report from India that included hundreds and thousands of mothers and girls learning the Transcendental Meditation Technique, and success in implementing Consciousness-Based Education.
In India the Global Mother Divine Organization (GMDO) is active in a number of states, building on the decades of teaching activities of the ladies' wing of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in that nation. Special attention is now being given to the Sahasra Shirsha Matri Mandal project, which aims at creating many groups of 1,000 ladies practising Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying together at the same time in their own homes
In the city of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, 14 lady Transcendental Meditation Teachers have been instructing over 2,600 ladies in eight months. Five hundred are in the process of learning the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, and they look forward to the first group becoming Yogic Flyers soon. Traditional artistic competitions are offered to the public to alert ladies to Total Knowledge Based programmes, and GMDO courses are contributing to deepening experiences among the Meditators.
The lady Transcendental Meditation Teachers at the GMDO National Office in Maharishi Nagar have been conducting a TM Teacher Training Refresher course, attended by 25 Teachers this spring. The Raj Rajeshwaris* conducted classes from Holland via teleconference, and gave great inspiration to the participants.
Mahila Dhyan Vidyapeeth Centre (ladies' organization for Transcendental Meditation) in Varanasi organized a five-day free camp in April. Approximately 400 people attended. A lady Jyotishi (expert in Maharishi Jyotish, Vedic Astrology) and lady Vaidya (expert in Maharishi Ayur-Veda health care) were also present. They presented the knowledge of Maharishi Ayur-Veda and Maharishi Jyotish, also emphasizing the importance of Maharishi Yagya and Anushthan. The news of the camp was broadcast on local TV channels. Some people registered to learn Transcendental Meditation.
Two great lighthouses of enlightenment in India are Maharishi Vidya Mandir for Girls in Kolkata, West Bengal, and Maharishi Veda Vigyan Maha Vidyalaya School and College for Girls in Begumpet, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh—both guided by very experienced pillars of the ladies' wing in India.
In recent exams, students at the college in Hyderabad (established in 1980) achieved 67 per cent results, which, in view of the fact that the school and college have many students from economically less advantaged families, is a very satisfactory result. As it is, the college ranked second in the area, after a college situated in a very wealthy neighborhood.
Students at the high school level have won several awards, and at the recent secondary school examinations, 100 per cent of the 39 students who appeared for the examination passed, 36 achieving first class.
Global Good News will continue with recent achievements of the Global Mother Divine Organization in India in the coming days, with a report on Maharishi Vidya Mandir in Kolkata, West Bengal.
