In Fairfield, Iowa, USA, thousands of Yogic Flyers gather twice daily to create coherence and harmony in America through the group practice of the Transcendental Meditation Technique and the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme.

Extensive research has documented the rise of invincibility—reduced negative trends, including reduced crime and violence, and improved economic and social trends—when as few as the square root of one per cent of a population practises Yogic Flying together in a group.

Scientists named this phenomenon the 'Maharishi Effect' after Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the Founder of the Transcendental Meditation Programme, who predicted the beneficial impact of its group practice on social trends as early as 1975.

The critical number of Yogic Flyers for the United States is 1,750. Four years ago, in July 2006, Maharishi established the Invincible America Assembly to ensure that the collective consciousness of the nation takes the most positive direction.

The Yogic Flyers participating in the Invincible America Assembly are students, faculty, and staff of Maharishi University of Management, residents of Fairfield and neighboring Maharishi Vedic City, and more than a thousand Maharishi Vedic Pandits—peace creating experts from India—at a nearby campus.

Participants of the Invincible America Assembly are dedicated to creating a strong and harmonious nation and a peaceful world, but they also enjoy personal benefits: the growth of higher states of consciousness, and profound inner bliss.

Dr Howard and Dr Alice Settle, founders of the Howard and Alice Settle Foundation for an Invincible America, have generously provided funds for the Maharishi Vedic Pandits, as well as a special Assembly programme attended by nearly 500 people daily. '[The Settles] are the real heroes,' says Raja Robert Wynne, Mayor of Maharishi Vedic City, and a Raja (Administrator) for the Global Country of World Peace.

Raja Wynne reported that the critical threshold number of Yogic Flyers (called the Super Radiance number) was reached every day in the month of May, and is on track to increase this month. On average, 1,813 people participated in the morning sessions, and 1,923 in the evening sessions, making this one of the largest groups of Yogic Flyers in the world.

He added that it should be quite easy to increase by another 150 Yogic Flyers during the summer months, as people come from around the country and the world for special courses associated with the Invincible America Assembly. 'Maharishi said we would really begin to notice the transitional effects of the increased coherence when we have 2,000 Yogic Flyers.

'By having coherence and invincibility for the country, everything else is nourished. If the US is feeling good, that influences the rest of the world.'

* Raja Wynne's report was featured on the 7 June 2010 Maharishi Global Family Chat, which is broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
