The French-language edition of Al Balad Magazine, a daily magazine in Lebanon, is currently publishing a major five-part series on the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation Programme.
The articles are appearing every Saturday for the next five weeks. The first in the series was published in the 5 June issue, and featured an in-depth exploration of developing full mental potential and decreasing stress through the regular practice of the Transcendental Meditation Technique.
Extensive scientific research has documented the beneficial effects of Transcendental Meditation for reducing stress, including major recent studies showing improvements in cardiovascular disease. One of the latest studies found a 47 per cent reduction in heart attacks, strokes, and deaths among high-risk patients with heart disease.
Other research on the technique has found marked reductions in anxiety and depression, as well as reduced stress and hypertension among college students.
Another important area of research results that impact students in the classroom, as well as adults in the workplace and home, is development of total brain functioning through Transcendental Meditation.
The Al Balad series is the result of an interview with a Teacher of Transcendental Meditation in Lebanon, Mr Georges Elia.
