Many local visitors have been taking tours of the International Capital of the Global Country of World Peace in MERU, Holland, appreciating the unique, deeply settled atmosphere as well as the inspiring knowledge and practical programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Recently the 4,000th visitor took a tour of the campus, since the tours began one and a half years ago. A reception was held to commemorate the event, and the guest was given a certificate which summarized Maharishi's many programmes for all areas of society.
Mr Gerard Riter, Manager of MERU, described the event,* as well as the visitors tour, which includes 45 minutes inside a pavilion, and then 45 minutes walking outside around the campus.
Many of the guests, although unfamiliar with Maharishi's programmes when they arrive, are inspired to pursue them further after their tours. 'Guests are especially interested in Maharishi Ayur-Veda' natural health care, commented Mr Riter, as he showed slides of tour participants enjoying aroma therapy.
It's very fulfilling to welcome people from the local community, Mr Riter said, who have shown increasing interest in the MERU campus over the years; more opportunities will soon be available. Residents of neighbouring communities are already planning to attend the Maharishi Gandharva-Veda concerts on 24-25 July 2010. Mr Riter also said that a Sunday morning music and entertainment programme will soon be introduced in MERU.
'It's a joy to see the transformation among guests after they experience the silence and coherence-creating effect of this environment,' Mr Riter commented in conclusion.
* Mr Riter's report was featured on the 18 May 2010 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
