During a recent tour in Southeast Asia, Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, visited Laos. While there Dr Morris gave great support and inspiration to new initiatives to bring the knowledge and programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, to the people of the nation.
Speaking on Maharishi Global Family Chat,* Dr Morris reported that, in addition to the one Transcendental Meditation Teacher currently in the country, TM Teachers from neighbouring Thailand are planning to spend time in Laos to help launch Maharishi's programmes.
Dr Morris also explored possibilities for making the Transcendental Meditation Programme available to Buddhist monks in the country. He will be consulting with Reverend Dr Koji Oshima, a Buddhist monk from Japan who has taught Transcendental Meditation to over 3,000 Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka and Thailand.
Dr Morris also commented on the great similarities between Laos and India, the land of the Veda. 'In some parts of Laos I felt as if I were in India—there is that sense of unity between the two countries, especially in terms of an ancient history of Total Knowledge,' he said.
'We have great hope that the Buddhist monks in Laos will gain great benefit from the practice of Transcendental Meditation, and help bring invincibility to the nation,' Dr Morris said in conclusion.
* Dr Morris's report was featured on the 31 March 2010 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
