The director of a busy Maharishi Invincibility Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa, Dr Vicki Broome, described how many more people have been coming to learn the Transcendental Meditation Programme, and continuing to enjoy advanced programmes at the Centre after learning the technique.
Dr Broome commented that people choose to learn Transcendental Meditation for different reasons. 'Many people come in to learn because of the scientific research on stress, anxiety, cardiovascular disease, and other health issues,' she said. Others are coming in seeking enlightenment.
A rich variety of events is offered at the Centre for people already practising Transcendental Meditation, including knowledge presentations and cultural events, to suit their diverse range of interests and desires for advanced knowledge.
During the first few follow-up lectures for new practitioners of Transcendental Meditation, Teachers often play videotapes of historic lectures by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Transcendental Meditation Programme and the Global Country of World Peace.
Maharishi's addresses on these tapes give a beautiful introduction to the knowledge of developing full potential in every area of life through Transcendental Meditation. They also create, said Dr Broome, 'a feeling of connectedness and inclusion among the new practitioners', which also helps inspire them to continue their practice and participate in other aspects of Maharishi's programmes.
Dr Broome and her husband, Dr Richard Broome, are co-directors of the Centre, and like to stay in touch with those who have taken the Transcendental Meditation course there. They often send personal invitations to upcoming events at the Centre via email.
* Dr Broome's report was featured on the 2 February 2010 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
