In 2009, Iceland saw a burst of interest in the Transcendental Meditation Programme, with large numbers of people learning the technique, and the establishment of a Maharishi Invincibility Centre.*
The extraordinary increase began in May 2009 when Dr David Lynch visited the country, giving talks about Transcendental Meditation to 1,500 people—one half of one per cent of the country's population. Since then, the five Transcendental Meditation Teachers in Iceland have taught the programme to 524 people, and there is a long waiting list for those who wish to learn.
The rapid expansion of the knowledge and programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Iceland was the topic of a recent report by Raja Tom Stanley, Raja of Invincible Iceland for the Global Country of World Peace.**
'One of our foremost goals for the year 2010 is to train more TM Teachers, to meet this ever-increasing need in Iceland,' said Raja Stanley.
Another great accomplishment for Iceland in 2009 was the establishment of a Maharishi Invincibility Centre in Reykjavik, where the Transcendental Meditation Teachers have been holding courses. The building faces east, with an eastern entrance and a body of water to the northeast—all proper features according to principles of Vastu (Vedic Architecture, Maharishi Sthapatya Veda).
For 2010, Raja Stanley intends to offer courses in the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying. While the requirement for creating national invincibility is 58 Yogic Flyers, Raja Stanley hopes to achieve over three times this goal, aiming for a group of 200.
Also very important in the coming year, he said, is the translation of materials such as websites, books written by Maharishi, and pamphlets on Maharishi's programmes into the Icelandic language.
* Maharishi Invincibility Centres in major cities around the world offer the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, including the Transcendental Meditation Programme, to promote enlightenment for every individual and invincibility for every nation through development of full potential in every area of life.
* Raja Stanley's report was featured on the 26 December 2009 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
