During the weeks preceding the December United Nations Climate Summit in Copenhagen, the Rørvig Folk School for the Development of Consciousness hosted a World Peace Assembly of Yogic Flyers, with the aim of creating an influence of coherence in collective consciousness to support the global decisions being made.

Forty practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying, attended the two-week assembly. Participants came from Denmark, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Russia, Italy, Slovakia, Belgium, and other countries. 'It created an extremely powerful atmosphere of peace, with participants practising long programmes both morning and evening,' said Raja Bjarne Landsfeldt, Raja of Invincible Denmark for the Global Country of World Peace, speaking on Maharishi Global Family Chat.*

Raja Bjarne went on to note some of the ways in which effects of the World Peace Assembly could be seen during the summit, including lower violence among protesters than expected. He also commented that the countries with the largest emissions—China, Japan, India, the European Union, Brazil, and the United States—stood together against climate change at the conference in an unprecedented manner. 'We hope that these significant steps will lead to further, more definitive agreements,' he said.

He also reported that, in conjunction with the World Peace Assembly, thousands of informational pamphlets were made and distributed in Copenhagen about how the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi can contribute to fighting climate change. One of the posters explained that practising the Transcendental Meditation Programme expands creativity, leading to innovative solutions for energy production, transportation, agriculture, construction, and scientific research.

In the wake of the international World Peace Assembly in Copenhagen, members of the Global Country of World Peace in the area are planning to establish a permanent group of Yogic Flyers in the city, practising together seven days a week.

* Raja Bjarne's report was featured on the 26 December 2009 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
