The grand project to build the Maharishi Purusha Capital of the Western World—from where the silent, global administration of the Purusha Programme* will be conducted—began in late 2007 when 410 acres of land (166 hectares) were acquired in West Virginia, USA. Over a mile of road to enter the site is now complete.

Special responsibility for the construction of this Purusha Capital—located directly west of the capital of the United States in Washington, DC—rests with Raja Robert LoPinto, Raja of the Global Country of World Peace for Invincible South Africa, Philippines, Vietnam, Senegal, Oman, Lesotho, and Gambia.

On 16 December, Raja LoPinto showed slides** of the beautiful panorama of the mountains and forests around the land, saying that 'whatever we achieve is just the seed that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi planted, which sequentially unfolds in the most natural way.'

A builder has been chosen and the first building has been ordered; it will be completed in about two months; four more buildings will follow.

Raja LoPinto gave details about several 'green' qualities of the building:

∙ It features passive solar design, with no furnaces in the building;
∙ The design is so energy efficient—with 12-14 inch thick walls—that it will be a model for energy efficiency for multi-family housing in the United States.

The window supplier is making special windows for the building, and will be starting a new green line of windows based on the requirements for this project.

A Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture project on the land is supporting all those working at the site. The engineering design is now underway for the infrastructure.

Raja LoPinto said that when the buildings are complete, the plan is to start with about 40 members of the Purusha Programme living there.

An inaugural celebration honouring all the supporters and well-wishers of the Purusha Capital was held in October. Global Good News will soon feature an article about the speakers at this celebration.

* Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has explained that Purusha means the Self, the quality of infinite silence of the Unified Field of Natural Law. Maharishi designed the Maharishi Purusha Programme for men who wish to dedicate themselves fulltime to the most rapid pace of evolution and to creating world peace, through extended group practice of the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying, and through their administration through silence, fulfilling the goals of the Global Country of World Peace in 192 countries of the world.

** Raja LoPinto spoke on the 16 December Maharishi Global Family Chat, which is broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
