Many countries throughout the world participated 28 September in the global celebration of Victory Day, the auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami in the Vedic Calendar. In beautiful ceremonies at special locations in their own nations, leaders and members of the Global Country of World Peace conducted full programmes of celebration, including raising the Flag of Invincibility.
Recently on Maharishi Global Family Chat,* Dr Peter Swan, Minister of Communication for the Global Country of World Peace, presented a slideshow of photos taken in many different countries on Victory Day, highlighting participants and landmarks in each one.
The first location where the Flag of Invincibility was raised was in New Zealand, at the Maharishi Peace Colony** just north of Auckland. Attending the Victory Day celebration was Dr Graham Lodge, National Director of New Zealand for the Global Country of World Peace, as well as other Teachers and practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation Technique and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme.
At the Spiritual Centre of Japan, the Flag of Invincibility was raised by a similar group, which also included a professor at the Maharishi University of Management School. The School was established in collaboration with the Overseas Chinese College (OCC) of the Capital University of Economics and Business—the partner university in Beijing of Maharishi University of Management (M.U.M.) in the USA.
Raja Vikram Aditya, Raja of Invincible Thailand for the Global Country of World Peace, raised the Flag of Invincibility within his domain, alongside his family. In northern Thailand, the country's National Director raised the flag, accompanied by technicians from the Maharishi Vedic Spa in the area.
In Kathmandu, Nepal, a group of Maharishi Vedic Pandits raised the Flag of Invincibility under the direction of Nepal's National Director for the Global Country of World Peace, Mr Deepak Baskota.
In Germany, the Flag of Invincibility was raised in many cities, including Erfurt, Freiburg, and Hamburg.
Flags were also raised in Seelisberg, Basel, and Zurich, Switzerland.
In Holland, flags were raised at a primary school which has implemented Consciousness-Based Education, as well as at the home of Dr Paul Gelderloos, National Director of Holland for the Global Country.
In the United Kingdom, flags were raised at Maharishi Garden Village in Rendlesham, Suffolk, England, and also at Maharishi European Sidhaland in Skelmersdale, England.
Dr Swan reported that flags were also raised in Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Ukraine, Turkey, Hamsa (Hungary), Ghana, Poland, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Guadeloupe. Beautiful photos of the flag-raising in all of these countries—and more—will soon be featured in the Global Good News Album of Events section.
* Dr Swan's report was featured on the 3 October 2009 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
** Maharishi Peace Colony: A community founded to help create invincibility for a nation, based on the principles of Maharishi's Vedic Science and their practical applications for living perfection in all areas of life. A Peace Colony may include a Maharishi Peace Palace, Maharishi School, Maharishi Ayur-Veda Health Centre, homes, and buildings for group practice of Yogic Flying—all built according to Vedic Architecture, Maharishi Sthapatya Veda.
