3 September 2009
Following the huge success of the historic benefit concert in April by Paul McCartney and friends in New York for the David Lynch Foundation, a new initiative has begun in Canada to support the David Lynch Foundation of Canada. The first Living Room Benefit Concert took place on 29 August, in Vancouver, British Columbia, attended by 50 people; prominent musicians from the city took part.
Speaking on 2 September,* Dr Gregg Wilson, a Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme Administrator for North America, said that as a way to introduce people to 'the great work Dr David Lynch is doing, establishing Consciousness-Based Education programmes around the world', this type of event, the Living Room Benefit Concert, could be held in cities anywhere in the world. It is well suited for small venues and gathering together friends, family, and other people interested in enjoying music.
Showing slides of the event, Dr Wilson said that 50 people attended this first concert, held in the private home of a long-time Teacher of Transcendental Meditation.
Following the concert, which was interspersed with short video presentations on Consciousness-Based Education and the David Lynch Foundation, a number of individuals not yet practising Transcendental Meditation expressed their appreciation, not only for the delightful evening, but also for the activities of the Foundation. One couple expressed their desire to support the David Lynch Foundation of Canada on an on-going basis through their business. Others expressed their interest in learning Transcendental Meditation.
Dr Wilson also said that since the McCartney concert, Canada has been riding a wave of expansion and publicity about all of the programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
In the coming days Global Good News will present further articles about the Vancouver benefit concert and the musicians who took part in it.
* Dr Wilson's report was featured on the 2 September Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3.
