27 October 2008 was a day of unprecedented historic significance for Latin America. On that day, nearly 10,000 individuals in six countries in Latin America began instruction in Yogic Flying.
Yogic Flying is an aspect of the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. When the participants complete their training courses soon, their practice in large groups—a central element in Maharishi's programme to create invincibility in every nation—will exponentially accelerate progress towards invincibility for their countries, throughout the continent, and in the entire world.
The news of this great achievement was announced 27 October on the Maharishi Global Family Chat by Raja Jose Luis Alvarez, Raja of Invincible Latin America for the Global Country of World Peace.
Raja Luis summarized the number of participants, mainly in schools, who began the Yogic Flying course on that day:
- Brazil: 4615
- Peru: 2500
- Bolivia: 1000
- Mexico: 1000
- Ecuador: 300
- Colombia: 250
—for a total of more than 9700 new Yogic Flyers.
Raja Luis announced this news at the culmination of the special global celebration of the Day of Hanuman, commenting on its profound significance in light of Maharishi's description of Hanuman as the supreme power of action, on the level of the silent, self-referral value of the Constitution of the Universe, the Veda. In the Ramayana in Vedic Literature, Hanuman displays the supreme power of action in Yogic Flying—as Raja Luis said, 'accomplishing everything within himself, on the level of Atma [the Self], of Brahm [Totality]'.
Raja Luis appreciated the inspiration of Maharaja Adhiraj Raja Raam in a recent address, that 'our knowledge should be the source of total blessings for every nation, to improve the quality of consciousness in times of transition, in the economy, in society, on every level—our knowledge is to develop consciousness, and different levels of society are nourished.'
All the new Yogic Flyers in Latin America will add to the coherent influence created by those already trained, Raja Luis said. 'This power of action is expressed in this day by increasing the number of Yogic Flyers, and also by enlivening and giving honour to Maharishi's supreme knowledge. . . . This is Maharishi's blessing for every country, and that is what we do by teaching in our schools— Consciousness-Based Education becomes a tool for every student to become the power of Hanuman, and through this power of action make national consciousness integrated.'
Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, expressed warmest congratulations to Raja Luis and appreciation on his behalf to all who have worked to organize these large courses, including leaders of the Global Country of World Peace in Latin America, and all the students, school principals, and teachers participating in the project. Dr Morris also commented, 'This gives us some idea of what Maharishi meant by, 'My work is done.'*
