During Maharishi Global Family Chat on 3 September, Colonel Gunther Chasse, Minister of Defence for Invincible Germany, read the report about rising coherence in India from Major General Dr Kulwant Singh, Minister of Defence of the Global Country of World Peace.
Colonel Chasse said that Major General Singh was a highly decorated general in the Indian Army; he was awarded the second highest decoration for senior officers. He received his PhD and Master of Science in Defence Studies from Chennai University, and qualified for the prestigious Higher Command Course at the College of Combat. He is also a graduate of the Defence Services College. He fought in combat and in India's fight against terrorism for nearly 30 years.
After his retirement General Singh joined Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's 'army of wisdom', Dr Chasse said, and was appointed Minister of Defence of the Global Country of World Peace.
In his report read by Colonel Chasse, Major General Singh said that great events are taking place in India. They are gradually heading towards coherence amongst large numbers of young students. In over 100 Maharishi Vidya Mandir schools there is regular practice of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying. The total numbers of students and others practising this technology of consciousness is more 100,000, including the parents and staff.
Organizing the technology of peace at this large scale requires vision, massive effort, and coordination skills, said Major General Singh. This has been effectively done by Dr Girish Varma. These schools are spread throughout India.
Major General Singh said there is currently violence and other political activity in India that has taken many lives, but there is no trouble or less trouble in those states where the Transcendental Meditation and the advanced technology of Yogic Flying are being practised regularly by a large number of Maharishi Vidya Mandir students and others—including the Maharishi Vedic Pandits at the Brahma-Sthan [auspicious central point] of India.
'It is not a new discovery,' General Singh said in his report, 'but even if one man in a society becomes a picture of orderliness, he radiates orderliness to others around him. Similarly within a family, one is good enough to create peace and harmony. Within a town a few individuals or a few families may be sufficient. Within a country a few cities may be adequate. This is the one per cent theory.
'Even just a few individuals practising Maharishi's technology of peace can be a powerhouse of peace and harmony in the society and can be of great help in reducing violence and eliminating negative tendencies,' Major General Singh said.
Major General Singh reported that Maharishi World Peace Organization was established in India on Guru Purnima in July 2008, with the main aim of increasing the number of those learning Transcendental Meditation. From the initial response, it has been a great success.
Major General Singh concluded his report by saying that 'when an individual learns Transcendental Meditation, he learns a technique to improve himself in all areas of life . . . . Simultaneously we are taking a step forward in moving the society towards a greater level of collective consciousness. When we are successful in increasing the numbers [of meditators and Yogic Flyers] we gradually move towards invincibility with all its advantages.'
