The National Director of the Global Country of World Peace in Armenia, Dr Svetlana Galstyan, is currently an honoured guest of the Invincible America Assembly, where she has been meeting with Raja Robert Wynne, Raja of Armenia, to launch a programme to bring Invincibility to her country.
Armenia is a landlocked mountainous country in the Southern Caucasus between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. Although Armenia has experienced a troubled history, the country has enjoyed strong economic growth since 1995 and Armenians living abroad are starting to return to their country.
The 1988 Spitak Earthquake devastated the country and left more than a half million people homeless. Following that disaster, Dr Sveltana Galstyan, founding leader of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's organization in Armenia, arranged for large groups to learn Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme. Within 4½ months, 17,000 people were instructed in Transcendental Meditation, with another 17,000 people learning in subsequent months. In this way, within only 9 months, more than one percent of the population of Armenia had learned Transcendental Meditation. Many of these went on to learn Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying.
Raja Wynne and Dr Maureen Wynne participated in teaching TM in Armenia during that time. Reporting on the enormous relief from the suffering inflicted by the earthquake, Raja Wynne spoke of the change in Armenians as they came to learn the technique. 'Transcendental Meditation helped them remarkably', he said. 'They lost ten years of their age in the first ten days of learning TM; they looked so much younger that some of them were unrecognizable.'
'We will start the campaign on the national day of Armenia, 21 September, and from that day we will permanently establish invincibility for the nation,' Raja Wynne said.
The plan involves teaching more people to meditate and inviting all those who had previously been instructed in the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme to meet together for group practice twice daily. When practised in groups, the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi programme works to defuse societal stress and tension—creating peace in the environment. This is a powerful component of the technology for creating world peace developed by Maharishi.
Responding to Raja Wynne's efforts to help her country, Dr Svetlana Galstyan said, 'I am very happy that Raja Wynne is trying to help Armenia. In 1989 people from Maharishi University of Management in the USA came to help Armenia. It was a great personal experience for many thousands of Armenians. Many who had not slept for a year after the earthquake learned Transcendental Meditation and finally had a huge relief. Even after many years many remember the help we got from the USA and Great Britain to help recover from this wound we had from the earthquake. We hope on 21 September when we start the campaign that many will respond. Today is the time when Armenia needs all the wealthy and famous to come forth again and save Armenia. This is the time we all need Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme in Armenia. We need at least 400 Yogic Flyers to secure permanent peace for Armenia and keep our cultural integrity and bring real happiness, affluence, prosperity, and peace, peace, peace to Armenia.'
