Brazil: Dr David Lynch experiences continued receptivity in nation-wide tour

In the afternoon of that same day, the group attended a Peace Conference, whose attendees also included Brazilian leaders in law enforcement, military, and substance-abuse regulation. 'We knew there would be peace-loving people in attendance,' said Dr Roth, 'but we had no idea these would include government officials—it was a great surprise.' At the conference, Dr Roth and Dr Lynch showed several charts displaying scientific research on the Transcendental Meditation Technique's peace-creating effect. Also, Donovan gave a musical performance, and Dr Lynch recited Vedic literature on the topic of peace and freedom from suffering. 'The audience was overcome by emotion,' added Dr Roth.

Following the Peace Conference, Dr Roth, Dr Lynch, and Donovan visited a high government official in one of the Brazilian states. Dr Lynch and this official 'had an immediate connection', remarked Dr Roth. Dr Lynch spoke to him about eliminating stress and violence in schools through the practice of Transcendental Meditation, and the steps needed to achieve this. The official was very receptive, 'and expressed great interest in implementing Transcendental Meditation in his region's school system'.

The day after, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the group met with a successful businessman, a year-long practitioner of Transcendental Meditation and enthusiast of Dr Lynch and Donovan. 'Dr Lynch described to him what his foundation has been doing to spread Consciousness-Based Education in the US and Brazil,' said Dr Roth.

Dr Roth went on to describe the final events in Sao Paulo, including a book signing by Dr Lynch with 800 in attendance, and a lecture at a top film school, which attracted an audience of 350. 'To see the love and appreciation for David Lynch and his mission at these events was extraordinary,' remarked Dr Roth. 'His message over the years has become increasingly refined and powerful.' Dr Roth added that Donovan, too, created the same effect on listeners as Dr Lynch, merely with the sound of his music. 'He doesn't need to lecture, but simply through his singing thrills bliss into the heart of the listener.'

Concluding, Dr Roth expressed the inspiration that he, Dr Lynch, and Donovan all felt from Maharishi throughout their Brazilian tour.
