Speaking 27 July 2008 on Maharishi Global Family Chat, Dr Shizuo Suzuki, National Director of Japan for the Global Country of World Peace, presented the many benefits brought by the knowledge and programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to his nation over the last 30 years or more.

Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programmes 'Maharishi has created 60,000 practitioners of Transcendental Meditation and 5,000 practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, of which 3,500 of Yogic Flyers.'

Teachers of Transcendental Meditation 150 people have finished the Teacher Training Course in Japan, and there are now 50 full-time Teachers of the Transcendenatl Meditation Technique. In addition, there are 22 Maharishi Centres of Invincibility from which to teach the TM and TM Sidhi Programmes.

Maharishi Corporate Development Programme The Maharishi Corporate Development Programme has been introduced into more than 300 business corporations in Japan.

Maharish Ayur-Veda There are currently 20 Maharishi Ayur-Veda medical doctors practicing in Japan and 2 Ayur-Veda clinics. In these clinics 20,000 have received treatment and 33,000 have received consultations during the past 15 years. In addition, 1,300 have completed treatment with Maharishi Vedic Vibration Technology.

Complementary and alternative medicine, including Maharishi Ayur-Veda, has attracted increasing attention from the Japanese government over the years.

Publications on Maharishi's Knowledge In Japan there have been published over 300,000 copies of more than 30 different books related to Transcendental Meditation and Maharishi Ayur-Veda.

Dr Suzuki's presentation included the positive effects in many areas of national life through Maharishi's programmes, including rising coherence in national consciousness from groups of Yogic Flyers creating invincibility for Japan:

Political progress In 1989 and 1990, the most peaceful party gained the greatest popularity, doubling its members in the Japanese Parliament.

In 2001, Maharishi's message of World Peace and Invincibility reached 1,500 top government leaders in Japan, including members of parliament, cabinet members, governors, and mayors. Three hundred of these leaders have responded in a positive way.

Economic growth Overall, there has been a distinct positive correlation between the expansion of Maharishi's programmes for the Global Country of World Peace in Japan and growth of the Japanese economy. Between the years 1985 and 1995, the period during which Maharishi's programmes expanded most rapidly, the Japanese GDP also made dramatic leaps. Between 1985 and 1990, the GDP grew by a ratio of 2.424, jumping from US$1.363 million to $3.043 million during the 5-year span. Five years later in 1995, the GDP jumped again to US$5.25 million. In 1994, the Japanese GDP was the second highest in the world; and in 1989, stock value was recorded highest in the history of the Tokyo Stock Market. Throughout the 10-year period of growth, the top 10 rated banks in the world were Japanese banks. In 1995, as Global Country of World Peace expansion reached a plateau, GDP growth ceased as well. 'There is no doubt that Maharishi changed the destiny of the economy in Japan,' said Dr Suzuki.

Increased longevity This year Japan now boasts the longest average lifespan in the world for both men and women: 86.7 years for women and 79.5 years for men. The increase in lifespan relates to better health and medical care, as well as a decrease in war, accidents, poverty, and natural disasters. 'Maharishi's programmes have simultaneously improved all of these factors, creating greater longevity for the Japanese population.

Further data show that for the last eight consecutive years, 1999 through 2007, the number of deaths by traffic accidents in Japan has decreased. In 2007, the number became that of half a century ago: less than 6,000 per year.

In addition, tobacco consumption in Japan has decreased steadily over the past 30 years.

'With Maharishi's contribution, quality of life has risen drastically in Japan, and the destiny of this nation and the world has been transformed,' said Dr Suzuki. 'During these Guru Purnima ceremonies, we resolve to create Invincibility for Japan and to realize greater progress in all of Maharishi's programmes for the nation, under the guidance of Maharaja Adhiraj Raja Raam and Raja Konhaus, Raja of Invincible Japan,' he concluded.
