Reporting from India during the Maharishi Global Family Chat on 15 February, 2008—broadcast globally by satellite and the Internet on Channel 3 of the Maharishi Channel—Dr Peter Swan, Minister of Communication of the Global Country of World Peace, laid out Maharishi's gifts to the world: his programmes for enlightenment, complete knowledge contained in Maharishi's Vedic Science and technologies, and the structure of the Global Country of World Peace.
Firstly Dr Swan reported that two days ago, the group there in India, under His Majesty Maharaja Adhiraj Raja Raam, travelled to Varanasi, the holy city of Benares, which is a Jyotir Linga city, and there the ceremony was performed to honour Maharishi. Dr Anand Srivastava, Chairman and Managing Director of Maharishi Ayur Veda Products Ltd, placed the remaining ashes in the holy river Ganga.
Dr Swan said that 'We were thinking at that time about all that Maharishi has done. Maharishi had asked, just at the end of his time here on earth with us, for a gift from the Rajas.' Maharishi had asked for just one thing, something that would be of the greatest value to everybody—all of us in the Movement and to the whole world.
'This is a traditional aspect of the Vedic Tradition,' said Dr Swan, 'that at the end of his time with his Chelas [disciples] the Guru makes a request for Dakshina—a token payment or gift for what he has given. He has given the techniques and the guidance for the whole life, and then he asks for something.'
At that time, Maharishi asked for a Tower of Invincibility 'to commemorate not just Maharishi, but the knowledge, and to create and maintain invincibility in perpetuity for all time. This is what Maharishi wanted, and this is what the Rajas pledged to Maharishi. This then is our programme now, to create the Towers of Invincibility.'
Dr Swan said that the Rajas have taken 4 or 5 or 6 countries each, and in those countries starting with the 48 countries*, the Towers of Invincibility will be constructed very soon.
When we think ''What has Maharishi given us?'' said Dr Swan, 'then that traditional saying comes that Maharishi gave to us: ''Guru gives technique'', Guru gives the technique. So the Guru gives you the technique for transcending, and the student has to practice that technique and use it to discover and uncover his own latent potential.
'That is one thing that Maharishi has given us—that effortless, simple, natural technique for transcending: for allowing the mind to settle down and experience Atma, the Self of the individual. He also gave the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme to enliven the qualities of the Self in daily life.
'So this is one thing of inestimable value that Maharishi has given us—techniques for enlightenment,' Dr Swan said. 'But Maharishi didn't just give that, he also gave complete knowledge.
'Maharishi first told us about the Absolute and the relative: this was in the time of the Science of Creative Intelligence course, that brilliant encapsulation of Total Vedic Knowledge everybody can understand—and which small children in schools love because of its simplicity and profundity.'
Maharishi taught us that all of these relative or changing aspects of life, all the different values like black and white, high and low, warm and cold and so on—that is the relative. The Absolute is non-changing, eternal, and that is the Self. Maharishi explained all of this as the years went by in terms of Vedic Science.
* 48 countries: countries which have the required number of Yogic Flyers to raise the nation to invincibility—the square root of 1% of the country's population—according to the principles of the Maharishi Effect.
