21 February 2008
Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, and President of Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, recently gave a presentation about two Maharishi Peace Palaces built by Drs Howard and Alice Settle, founders of the Howard and Alice Settle Foundation for Invincible America.
The first Peace Palace, built by the Settles in 2002 in Kentucky, is a 22,000 square-foot (2,200 square-metre), two-storey structure made of brick, cast stone, and other natural materials. Dr Morris showed slides of the handsome building up on a small rise, crowned by a double rainbow.
The Brahmasthan, the auspicious central area of the structure, contains a Vedic Observatory on a lotus design of inlaid marble imported from nine different countries.
Two floors above this open centre area, the ceiling is hand-painted as the sky and the galaxy, with natural lighting pouring in from all sides, Dr Morris said.
'It is a perfect Vastu, built according to the principles of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda architecture. Off the central area, glass doors lead to the lecture hall. Elegant display shelves grace the reception area of the Transcendental Meditation Centre.
'This is the gold standard for Maharishi Centres and Peace Palaces,' Dr Morris said, as he presented slides of rooms designed for various purposes, including teaching Transcendental Meditation, and a two-room suite for treatments at the Maharishi Vedic Health Spa.
There were also slides of the lower level meditation room, flooded with natural light, and containing a small Vedic Library; a beautiful Yogic Flying room; a well-stocked Maharishi Ayur Veda Products International (MAPI) store, and lovely gardens of medicinal herbs and flowers.
Next, Dr Morris showcased the larger, three-storey Maharishi Sthapatya Veda building called The Woodlands Peace Palace, also a gift of Dr Howard and Dr Alice Settle.
Located just north of Houston, Texas, it is a structure, as Dr Morris said, 'of richness, beauty and subtlety'. He showed its Brahmasthan with its shining marble floor and multi-coloured marble lotus design, crowned with a spectacular, golden lotus, hand-painted on the ceiling three floors above. The slides also included the elegant lecture hall, each perfectly designed room, and the MAPI Store with its Flag of Invincibility.
Dr Morris concluded, 'All our admiration and gratitude go to Howard and Alice Settle for creating these Peace Palaces—perfect examples of how to present all Maharishi's knowledge and programmes in a beautiful and perfect setting.'
