On 14 November 2007 The Thing Is . . . Online Magazine reported: Award-winning filmmaker David Lynch and renowned musician Donovan received an enthusiastic response from the audience at the BFI London Film Festival when they spoke on the topic 'Catching the Big Fish: Meditation and Creativity'. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of world peace.

Lynch and Donovan both practise Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme and credit the technique with increasing creativity. Although very different as artists, the article reported, they are 'untied in their desire' to share the benefits of Transcendental Meditation with others.

The article reported that when Lynch discussed the Transcendental Meditation Technique 'what was clear to everyone was Lynch's passion and belief that it can make each and every one of us both happier and more productive. This in itself may be enough to encourage some to give meditation a second look.'

David Lynch, the article reported has the 'ability to have the crowd hang on his every word.'

Lynch has written a book on the same topic as the evening's talk—'Catching the Big Fish'—which the article stated, 'is certainly worth a read.'

The article included an excerpt from the book: 'Ideas are like fish. If you want to catch a little fish you can stay in the shallow water. But if you want to catch the big fish you have got to go deeper. Down deep, the fish are more powerful and more pure. They're huge and abstract. And they're very beautiful.'
