On 9 January 2007 The Des Moines Register reported: Vedic pandits are arriving in Iowa to participate in a large group meditation program to reduce conflict and aggression in the world, while creating world peace and prosperity. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of world peace.

The Des Moines Register reported that a development of east-facing modular homes for these special pandits from India, 'built with nontoxic chemicals and energy-efficient materials', is being installed at a quick pace within the newly incorporated Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa, USA near the Maharishi University of Management campus in Fairfield.

According to the article, several hundred pandits have come since last summer, expanding to 1,900 the number of advanced Transcendental Meditation program participants in the 'Invincible America Assembly' program developed by His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to promote positive effects and alleviate violence 'in a war-torn world'. Participants include 'students, longtime practitioners from Fairfield and other states and the new residents from India—[who] spend eight hours in daily meditation' in the university's golden domes. Many have been enabled to participate through scholarships donated by the Howard and Alice Settle Foundation.

The article explained that the Assembly is approaching the threshold level of 2,000 meditators (the square root of one percent of the United States population) necessary to achieve the 'Maharishi Effect' of a nationwide positive influence. In November, 'spokesmen claimed the mass meditation was responsible for a surge in the stock market, low unemployment and dropping oil prices. They also predict a 20 percent drop in violence in coming months,' the article stated.

The Des Moines Register noted that similar assemblies are in progress in other countries, including the Netherlands, although the one in the United States is by far the largest. The article quoted Maharishi Vedic City resident Fred Gratzon as saying, 'Fairfield and Maharishi Vedic City now form the epicenter of peace and enlightenment for the entire world.'

Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
