On 24 December 2005 Rediff India Abroad reported:
Famous film Director David Lynch has turned his attention to creating world peace, and his unique approach has caught the media's attention. The New York Times included his idea for a 7 billion dollar fund that will allow students to learn the Transcendental Meditation Technique in its annual list of 25 most newsworthy ideas in 2005.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of world peace.
The fund will also support a group of 8,000 practising this technique together to create peace for the world. Lynch explains in the article that 8,000 'is approximately the square root of one per cent of the world's population, which is the number needed to produce the Global Maharishi Effect for reducing international conflict'.
Lynch, who has practised Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Transcendental Meditation Technique for 32 years, has already personally donated $400,000 and has 'raised $1 million in donations from a handful of individuals and organizations' the article states. He admits that $7 billion is a large sum to raise, but is confident that people will feel the importance of creating peace in schools and homes everywhere and they will give their support.
Lynch puts his endeavour in perspective when he compares it to military expenditure. He explains that world peace or 'Heaven on Earth', can be created for the same cost as three and a half B-1 bombers. 'In which case,' the article quotes him saying, 'it would be a bargain.'
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
