Ever since Maharishi began holding his global news conferences, more than three years ago, positive, in-depth world press coverage of Maharishi's Vedic Science and Technology has exploded in ways never seen in the 50 years of Maharishi's movement.

We have an inspiring report of excellent press coverage for Maharishi's programmes that has appeared in just the past week.

The big news has been the widespread and very positive media coverage given to Maharishi's call for the world press to examine the layout of government buildings in their countries, and to urge the leaders to abandon these buildings if they are not properly laid out to the east according to Vastu Vidya—Maharishi Vedic Architecture.

Needless to say, the press loved this story! Articles appeared in newspapers all over the world, including this article on the front page of the Patriot News, the main newspaper of Harrisburg, the state capital of Pennsylvania, USA.

The Patriot News: Maharishi says west-facing Capitol skews coherent minds

The article reads in part: 'Some people fault the internal politics at the Capitol for Pennsylvania's problems. Others blame the elected officials who work under the dome. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the father of Transcendental Meditation, blames the actual building. It faces the wrong direction.

' 'A government building with an entrance facing any direction but east skews people's thinking and is the cause of many governmental failures,'' the Maharishi said. ''People do not know that a greater part of the negative influences in life comes from the wrong layout of the buildings in which they live and work,'' Maharishi added.

'Maharishi is a proponent of Vedic Architecture, which is rooted in 5,000-year-old traditions from India that call for buildings to be oriented toward the rising sun in the east. 'Scientific research documents that the brain fires more coherently when individuals face east,' he said.

' ''I think Maharishi just explained everything that's wrong in Pennsylvania,'' said Matthew Brouillette, president of the Commonwealth Foundation, a government reform group. ''Summon the bulldozers.'' '

And here are just a few of the articles and headlines of the scores of other articles that appeared in just the past few days. From India, the Press Trust of India sent this very complete, very positive article out to 2,000 newspapers and television stations throughout the country:

Press Trust of India: Maharishi: Bad Vastu of India's Parliament building the cause of infighting, problems—Blame the bad layout—or Vastu—of India's Parliament building for fueling political infighting, impeding governmental progress, and wasting taxpayer money.

The article says: 'This is the expert opinion of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of the worldwide Transcendental Meditation Movement, who is alerting Indian government leaders that a basic cause of their constant fighting over the problems of the nation is because they are holding meetings in a Parliament building with a wrong Vastu. ''I have been telling the government the same thing for the past 20-30 years,'' Maharishi said. ''Nothing good can ever come from the government as long as it is in a bad Vastu.''

'Maharishi delivered his message to the Indian press during a global news conference from his headquarters in Meru, Holland.

'According to Maharishi, the science of Vastu reveals that layout and orientation have a powerful influence on the occupants of a home or office building. An eastern entrance facing the rising sun is good because it promotes orderly thinking, harmonious relations, and success. North is also good. But an entrance facing south or west—or an entrance skewed in between—is bad. These buildings promote disorderly thinking, conflict, negativity, and widespread problems.

'For this reason, Maharishi wants India's leaders to abandon all wrongly laid-out buildings—as if an earthquake had hit the buildings. ''These buildings should be immediately rebuilt with a proper layout, according to the principles of the Vedic knowledge of architecture in harmony with Natural Law—Sthapatya Veda,'' Maharishi said.

'Maharishi said it is easy to determine whether the layout of a building has a good or bad influence. ''People can verify it for themselves,'' Maharishi said. ''If they are living in a building with a south entrance or a west entrance or an entrance that is 'tilted' (e.g. south-west or north-east) they will find themselves shrouded in unrest, fears, and problems. If their house faces east they will enjoy harmony, happiness, and prosperity.''

'Maharishi also said that there are no exceptions to the rule. ''Even a beautiful parliament building made of marble, which has been designed by a famous architect, should be demolished if it has a wrong layout,'' Maharishi said. ''Otherwise, the mind of the President, Prime Minister, and his Ministers will never be settled—their thinking will always be disorderly and off-balance.''

'Maharishi said that the nation will thrive when government leaders live and work in Vastu offices and residences. And families will enjoy greater prosperity, improved relations, and more happiness when they move to Vastu homes.

'Recent scientific research documents that brain neurons fire more coherently when an individual faces east than when he faces south or west. ''How coherently a man's brain functions is the basis of how coherently he thinks and behaves,'' Maharishi said.

'Maharishi emphasized that his advice is based not on man-made architectural principles but rather on the eternal Veda—the ''Unified Field'' as it is known by modern physics—which administers the infinite diversity of the universe with perfect order. ''What we are saying has absolute authority—that means it is true for all times, in every place, and for everyone,'' Maharishi said.

'Ironically, Maharishi acknowledged that the leaders may not be able to understand and act on his call to abandon their wrongly laid out buildings simply because they are living and working in bad Vastu.

'So, to prevent the negative influences of bad Vastu, Maharishi recently launched his Global Reconstruction Programme and invited builders in every country to begin building Peace Colonies in every city, composed of ''fortune-creating'' homes and offices, and Peace Palaces to teach Maharishi's Vedic Science-based programmes to the whole population.

' ''Now, with this knowledge, builders can stop building 'unlucky' buildings that produce problems and difficulties for the people and instead quickly build 'fortune-creating' homes, office buildings, schools, hospitals, and factories in harmony with Natural Law,'' Maharishi said. ''In this way, builders can eliminate the unseen basis of so many problems.''

'And if someone is a nonbeliever? ''Ultimately, the proof of the pudding is in the tasting,'' Maharishi said. ''Demolish your present building and build a new one according to Vastu, and see how quickly you begin to thrive—see how quickly you begin to make more money, have better relations, and enjoy more success in your life. These are the benefits of good Vastu.''

About.com: Hagelin warns government leaders about improper layout—'Divisive and destructive government policies will become more coherent and harmonious overnight if government leaders live and work in buildings that are properly designed according to the principles of Vedic Architecture of His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. This was the advice delivered recently by Dr John Hagelin, renowned quantum physicist and president of the US Peace Government. ''Nothing good will ever come from the government as long as the leaders are living and working in the disorderly influence of improperly designed and oriented buildings,'' Dr Hagelin said. ''The leaders should flee these old buildings as if they were hit by an earthquake.''

The Press Trust of India has sent out articles on Maharishi's call to governments:

Press Trust of India: President Bush should close south entrance to the White House

Hindustan Times: South is bad vaastu for both Bush, Blair

Deccan Herald: Bush gets some unorthodox advice

And this article from South Africa, blaming the west entrance of the city hall as the cause of ongoing dissension and failures by the city government:

Cape Argus (South Africa): Why the city council is going south

The conclusion is: Whatever Maharishi is doing these days is big news for the world press.

Whether it is • Maharishi's Consciousness-Based Vedic Education for the schools, • Maharishi's programme to establish large groups of peace-creating experts in every country to promote invincibility for the nation and permanent world peace, • Maharishi's programme to reconstruct the whole world in harmony with Natural Law—including his call for government leaders to abandon their non-Vastu buildings • or any of the nearly 60, Vedic Science-based programmes that Maharishi is now implementing for all areas of society throughout the world—whatever Maharishi is putting his attention on, whatever he is doing anywhere in the world is big news for the world press. This is a wonderful time of global awakening—a sign of the dawn of Sat Yuga—Heaven on Earth—for all mankind.
