Dr Manohar Palakurthi, a leading Vaidya (Ayurvedic physician from India) and now the permanent Maharishi Ayur-Veda expert for Japan, toured the country during the past year giving courses, seminars, and consultations.

About 350 people in Japan had Maharishi Ayur-Veda health care consultations, and 90 attended a one-day seminar in Tokyo.

In one seminar Dr Manohar presented self-pulse reading in Maharishi Ayur-Veda. The special Ayurvedic method of taking the pulse is an important approach used in diagnosis. The knowledge of how to take and understand one's own pulse was so popular that now a one-day seminar in self-pulse reading has been scheduled on a monthly basis.

Thirty people have taken the course on Maharishi Ayur-Veda designed for medical practitioners, a course taught in four distinct blocks. Seventeen have graduated from the programme so far and are applying this valuable knowledge in their own practices.

Maharishi Ayur-Veda herbal formulas have also become popular in Japan.
