Transcendental Meditation for women in US celebrated at international conference

The Transcendental Meditation programme for women in the United States offers a variety of specially designed courses—addressing issues of health, education, professional and personal development, and mother-baby care. The national organization, GMDO, presented achievements of the programme earlier this month at an international conference in MERU, Holland.

'GMDO's success continues to grow steadily through outreach to women in all areas of life,' said Vanessa Vidal, US national director. 'Wherever you look you will find women gathered together in women's clubs, women's professional organizations, teachers' associations, mothers' groups, etc. Even at a large corporation such as IBM, women create their own groups within the corporation to support and learn from each other.

'Women strive to balance their greater success in life with personal and spiritual growth. Women are understanding their own nourishing power and how important it is to nourish from the level of fullness. Women know that they are the primary caretakers of the family, whether it be their own family, their social family, their professional family, their community, or their world family.'

GMDO has programmes for women in all areas of society. One example presented at the conference is an outreach to nurses, who are known to be particularly susceptible to job burnout. As part of this outreach a PowerPoint presentation and brochure have been created, specifically designed for nurses, describing the organization's simple and profoundly effective programmes.

In other news, a new website about Transcendental Meditation for women—www.tmwomen.org—has been created, to universally enthusiastic response. The website is described as 'for women by women'. Designed to appeal to professionals, philanthropists, mothers, artists, students, and teachers, the website offers courses for women's health and enlightenment.

In addition, the website tmwomenprofessionals has been redesigned.
