26 February 2012
A new article on Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation program in relation to Yoga and Ayurveda was just published in the January 2012 issue of Light on Ayurveda: Journal of Health (LOAJ), Vol. 10, Issue 2—a national peer-reviewed quarterly.
The article is titled 'Enlightenment: The Goal of Yoga and Ayurveda'. The manuscript was written and submitted by Dr. Karin Pirc, Lothar Pirc, and Dr. Jeremy Fields* at the invitation of the journal's Editor in Chief, Dr. Bal Ram Singh,** head of the Indic Studies Department at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth in the United States.
The theme of the January issue of the Light on Ayurveda Journal is the relationship between the systems of Ayurveda and Yoga.
The article cites and references many studies on the effects of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation on mental and physical health and brain integration, and the development of consciousness as outlined in Maharishi's Vedic Science and Technology. The article proposes that enlightenment is the goal of both systems, and that the Transcendental Meditation Technique provides a systematic and effective way to make enlightenment a practical reality in daily life.
