Dr Norman Rosenthal, author of the New York Times bestselling book Transcendence, has embarked on a nationwide book tour of the United States. He has been speaking to fascinated audiences of hundreds and has been well-received at every stop along the way.
Dr Rosenthal's book looks at the remarkable benefits of practising the Transcendental Meditation Programme, but does so in a rigorous scientific manner. In addition, the book features stories from medical patients and many others whose lives have been transformed through this simple technique.
Dr Rosenthal was for 20 years a senior researcher at the National Institute of Mental Health, one of the largest scientific research bodies in the world. He was also one of the lead scientists in the discovery and classification of Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD.
In part because of his background and years of experience, Dr Rosenthal was able to enthrall the audiences at every venue on his book tour.
In the Pacific Northwest, he spoke to about 400 people in three different cities. He also spoke in Connecticut and then to about 350 people at a well-known hospital in New York. At the hospital, many interested doctors came to hear his message of how Transcendental Meditation can be applied clinically with significant positive results.
According to Sam Katz, a teacher of the Transcendental Meditation Programme, Dr Rosenthal spoke very clearly about his respect for, and recommendation of, Transcendental Meditation.
'He is very bold, very direct, letting people know if they're interested in maintaining perfect health and in developing their potential, then really there is only one alternative at this point that has been scientifically proven, and that's the Transcendental Meditation Programme.'
